The Birth Of Jam Sessions
Many people consider the festival to be the birthplace of what we now know as the American drum circle. This refers to a group of people coming together to play music together. Perhaps you know it better as a “jam session”. The music being played influenced everyone to create their own music and make instruments with whatever they had. Attendees jammed with their friends and strangers alike. It was easy to join in on the fun and make amazing music together!
Setting Up The Sound System
Bill Hanley was the person in charge of the sound engineering at Woodstock. According to him, the event was very successful. He created custom speaker columns and placed arrays on the high towers. The arrangement was meant to entertain only 150,000 people. As we already know, the crowd that came was much bigger than they originally anticipated. Nonetheless, the sound system was perfect.
