Many people were overjoyed to learn that Lauer would be staying on at NBC. He was regarded as a celebrity, but not everything can be maintained in its perfection. During the summer of 2012, Lauer traveled to London with co-hosts Meredith Vieria and Bob Costas to report on the Olympic Games, and his performance was disgracefully poor, according to Lauer. While covering the games, Lauer’s commentary failed to impress anyone in the United States – but it was ten times worse than the commentary heard in Europe. Several people criticized him for being unoriginal and even uneducated. Not exactly the raving endorsements you’d hoped to receive for your top-tier anchor.
