While working for the Today Show, Lauer was having the best professional life of his life. On stage, he was conducting live interviews, bouncing off of the audience members, and proudly displaying his naturally balding head while exuding a positive, upbeat demeanor. On November 29, 2017, however, everything he had worked so hard to achieve came crashing down around him. An official statement from NBC confirmed that the newsman had been fired from his position as a result of a statement submitted by a female coworker. The fact that it was the first complaint Lauer had ever received after working at NBC for more than twenty years couldn’t be ignored, and it was investigated.

Consider how he dropped out of college before delving into his current behavior and personality traits. You might think that Lauer’s long and opulent career would have catapulted him to the top of the newscasting rankings, but you’d be wrong. The Scripps College of Communication, School of Media Arts and Studies, was almost Lauer’s alma mater, but it wasn’t quite. Upon leaving school in 1979, he anticipated that his future lay outside the four walls of a traditional educational setting. Until 2017, he appeared to be on the right track. His expectations were far exceeded by the outcome of the decision. The most amusing part is that, while Scripps is a nice school, it is a long way from being a prestigious institution.
